About Us

Our Mission: To connect business and education through coordinated opportunities which will improve workforce quality and economic development.

The Westmoreland County Forum for Workforce Development, a newly formed group of
business-education representatives, has been meeting regularly with the Westmoreland
Intermediate Unit (WIU) Superintendents Association comprised of the 17 School Districts. The
purpose of the group is to discuss ways which will provide a better understanding of regional
quality workforce needs of business and industry and how improved communication and
collaboration can be cultivated and developed between education and business entities to
address the needs of the new economy. The long-term plan will include K-12 curriculum
supervisors, guidance counselors, career teacher coaches, etc.; industry, business and
community leaders; post-secondary education leaders; and county and state government officials
and agency heads. Forum Steering Committee meetings are held monthly at the WCCC
Advanced Technology Center. Fall and Spring Forums are scheduled annually for broad-based
representation of the greater education-business community.

Meetings are first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon at the WCCC Advanced Technology Center (ATC)
